Apopular young tour pro claimed his first PGA Tour victory on Sunday at the WM Phoenix Open. It was just a different one than most figured down the stretch on Sunday at TPC Scottsdale.
With a closing 67 that including birdies on our of his last six holes, Scottie Scheffler made a 26-foot birdie on the third playoff hole to beat Patrick Cantlay and claim his much-anticipated maiden title.
En route to the win, Scheffler passed Sahith Theegala, a 24-year-old rookie who held the 54-hole lead and stayed atop the leader board much of the afternoon until making bogey on the 17th hole to fall into a tie for third place with Brooks Koepka and Xander Schauffele.
With the win, Scheffler claimed the first-place prize money payout of $1.476 million from an overall purse of $8.2 million. Here’s the prize money payouts for every golfer who made the cut.
